Bob Bennettt

What do you think of Bob? I've heard the usual; "voted for obamacare, government bailout etc..." What good has Bob done in office?

  1. This blog is a great idea.

I think it's time for Bennett to go. The longer someone is in Washington, the more they think they know better than the people. In the senate confirmations of cabinet positions, in the TARP bailout, in the Medicare part D, in his healthcare bill, etc he has proven that he is pro big government and no longer represents the will of the people of Utah.

  2. Michael,
I am having trouble finding FACTS that prove that Bob Bennett has not upheld the voice of the people. For Example read this article concerning the TARP, it is helpful.

Let me know what you think.

  3. When TARP was being discussed, the calls to Senator Bennett's office were 600 to 1 opposed to the legislation and Senator Bennett still voted for it.

I am very active politically and I have not spoken to a single citizen of Utah who was in favor of the original TARP bill that Bennett voted for.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT VOTE FOR BENNETT AT THE CONVENTION. Here are a few links that will tell you why, with sources backing up the facts:

  6. I am not necessarily a Bennett hater. I think that he has done some good. But for me, he has simply been in Washington too long. I know that many people have cited him saying that the Constitution is out of date (I still cannot find a credible source for this..)
Yes, he voted for TARP and I really disagree with TARP. I am a believer that the economy will always bring someone who can do something better than another who has failed. In truth I believe that a lot of the failures are due to excessive restriction and moderation in Washington.
He proposed a healthcare mandate and this I do not agree with either. We need to fix healthcare but this is definitely not the way to go about it. The problem is the costs, not the presence of insurance!
Also, many cite Bennett's position on earmarks. He has justified this by saying that they are a necessary way of life in DC and if we do not use earmarks we only give the President more power to determine which projects to approve. My take is that the system has obviously failed and we need to find a new way to address these needed projects. Don't continue to support a flawed system, find a better way to do this rather than burying an earmark in a 2,000 page bill!
